In this activity we will practice low fidelity prototyping skills by creating a functional cardboard lock-box.  We will look at several potential mechanisms that you could use to create you box. 

While the objective might seem simple, the goal of this assignment is threefold

* Craft a device by hand in a limited amount of time

* Showcase thoughtfulness and craft in the execution of the design

* Learn how to design working mechanisms from low-fidelity materials

Instructions

1. Review the example videos in the Resources Tab above. 

2. Create a sketch of the your lock-box, include the dimensions of the box (height, width, depth). 

3. Collect the materials you will need to fabricate the device.

4. Fabricate the components you will need and assemble the prototype. 

Deliverable

A hand drawn diagram of the mechanism of the lockbox. 

The final cardboard lock-box prototype (2-3 photo booth photos)
